"Happy Birthday dear Dahvie, happy birthday to you!" They all sang around me, cheering. Then Jayy and Haley ran forward while I was blowing out the candles, shoving the whole thing in my face. Everyone erupted into laughter as I stood covered in cake.

"I'll get you for this!" I shouted, chasing them both down the stairs. As soon as we got near the pool I tackled Jayy into it, creating a girly scream from him before a loud splash.

We surfaced, only to continue splashing each other and also Haley who was doubled over beside the pool laughing. Ah, my birthdays are always like this. Full of fun and nothing but good times.

~

After I had put some new clothes on, re-did my makeup, and dried my hair, I joined everyone once again outside on the deck. Drew was cooking something on the barbeque, drink in hand. He obviously was not paying attention to what he was doing, talking to a group of people.

I walked through the crowd of maybe fifty people, until I could get to where I suspected Jayy would be, which I was right. He was sitting on the steps, sipping his drink, alone. I walked up and sat down next to him. He smiled, an obviously fake smile, and looked out into the distance. Why was he suddenly acting like we haven't even met before? I feel like I just sat down next to a stranger and we're both avoiding an awkward conversation. This isn't right.

"Jayy?" I said, placing my hand on his shoulder making him look towards me. "You alright? You seem... different."

He shrugged, looking back to whatever the hell he was looking at before. "I'm fine," He stated harshly.

I sighed, "doesn't sound like it."

He turned back again with his fake smile, "I'm serious, everything is fine. Happy Birthday, Dahvie."

I went to give him a hug when a girl I knew from a party I went to walked up behind us, sitting down and wrapping her arms around my waist. She smelled like booze and way to strong of perfume, laughing just like any drunk party girl would.

"Happy birthday, birthday boy," She slurred into my ear, then proceeded to nip at it. I gasped but not in a I-liked-that way, no it was a what-the-fuck-do-you-think-you're-doing gasp. But obviously taken the wrong way and she did it again but harder. Her hand trailed down to my thigh, making me blush, but I hated it.

Suddenly, Jayy stood up and walked quickly to the house, making an accuse that he was getting another drink when clearly his more than half full still. I looked to the drunk girl desperately trying to feel me up, failing miserably but still thinking I enjoyed it. When did I even invite her?

"Look, sweetie, you're a nice girl and all but I think you should stop," I said, gently pushing her away.

Her face dropped and she glared at me, "So you were just using me?"

What the fuck- I seriously don't understand girls, especially when they're drunk. "Honey, no, I didn't even ask for this. Look, go get a drink and have a good time. I'm just going to talk to Jayy, alright?"

She pouted, trying again to seduce me when in fact it was kind of disturbing, and maybe just a bit funny and annoying. I pushed her aside and stood up, hastily walking away from her. God, how can someone be so drunk already? I mean the party has only started three or four hours ago. Whatever, I sighed to myself and made my way through the maze of people. I was sure I saw Jayy go into the house, and I also didn't see him talking to anyone out here.

"Jayy?" I called into the empty house. I shut the screen door and called for him again, with of course no answer. I walked into the living room- nothing. Bathroom- nothing. Kitchen- bingo. He was placing some ice into a new drink, definitely looking like he was upset. I quietly walked behind him and hugged him around the waist, nuzzling my face into his muscular back. He gasped and turned around, looking as confused as ever.

"Dahvie? What are you doing here? What about that girl?" He asked, looking down. I was still holding his waist, which he must have just realized because he looked back up with a clear blush.

"I don't even know why she's here. I don't think I actually invited her. She's just drunk, don't worry I wouldn't let her put the moves on me," I laughed.

He nodded, trying to pull out of my grasp, but I held him there. "Jayy what's wrong? You seem like you're upset," I asked, concern filling my voice.

He shook his head, "Look everything is fine, okay? It's your birthday, just worry about yourself." He finally pulled away from me walked out of the kitchen and back outside. I stood watching him, even after he was gone and out of my site. He left his drink too. Is he mad at me? Did I do something wrong? I felt my heart slightly break and sat down alone at the table.

~

"Dahv-" *hiccup* "Dahvie you in here?"

"Daaahhvieee."

"Dahvie the fuck are you?"

A few voices called out. I hadn't realized I'd been in here for so long, it was nearly one o'clock in the morning and I think I came in here around ten thirty. I sighed and walked up to the group of people, apologizing and walking back outside before they had time to question me. Wow, nearly half the people left already. Since when do people leave so early at my parties? Oh well. Without even trying I spotted Jayy, once again alone but this time leaning on the railing on the deck. I walked up next to him, staring out to where he was also looking.

"Whatever I did, I'm sorry," I finally said after standing there for about five minutes.

"You didn't do anything, I'm the one being moody and it's supposed to be your birthday. I'm just bringing you down. I'm the one who should be sorry."

I grabbed his hand, "you can never bring me down, you're the one who makes me happy. I just want you to be happy and I'll do whatever it takes to make it happen. If I did something, said something, anything, I'll make it up to you."

Jayy smiled, "thanks, but really, you didn't do anything. I was the one who got myself upset..." he trailed off, sighing softly. What could he mean he got himself upset? I mean, I over think a lot and make myself upset too. Is that what he did?

"What are you upset about?" I asked quietly.

He looked down, taking his hand back from mine. "Nothing, okay, it's really nothing."

"Jayy, it's something. I know it is."

"It's just this guy, alright? He's always with someone else and I was going to ask him out today but I know it's stupid, even saying that aloud makes me cringe. Because I know for a fact what the answer would be, it'd be no. Honestly I can't take heartbreak and it's just weighing me down lately." He took a deep breath. "Sorry, I didn't mean to tell you all that. But see? Nothing you need to concern yourself about, I'm fine."

I stood listening to him, it was kind of weird to me. Not what he told me but the fact that he told me. I know most people would think he tells me everything, but he really doesn't. He keeps to himself almost all the time. But I guess I've been nagging him about telling me, so he just spilled.

"Jayy, it's alright. Just know that if they say no, they're missing out on the best guy that could ever be part of their life. I've known you for years, and I've always been thankful for it. Being able to call you my best friend, my blood brother, it's an honor. This guy you're talking about, doesn't know what he's missing out on. He doesn't see just how amazing it is to be around you, and he's purposely turning it down? Come on, fuck that guy! Jayy, you deserve the best, never forget that."

"Dahvie, I... Thank you," He smiled, turning and hugging me. "But, I think I've fallen for this guy. I can't just say 'fuck him', he's... he's all I want. I can't thank you enough for your words, but I just can't get him out of my head."

This guy must be something. I wish I knew who he was. "Jayy? Who is this guy?"

"He's... He's... He's someone you know, but I can't tell you who. Just know he's absolutely incredible. His personality is amazing, and he never fails to make me smile. I think I'm in love with him," he smiled for a minute, then his face completely dropped. "But I don't want to be in love with him, it's hell knowing he'll never feel the same towards me."

Poor Jayy. But what guy wouldn't fall for him? To be completely honest, I  may have a tiny crush on Jayy. Just a tiny crush alright? Don't give me that look! It's normal to have a small crush on someone like him, haven't you seen him? And don't get me started on his personality. He's actually one of the nicest people I've met but he still has his harsh humor that just makes him so funny. Basically, Jayy is just one of those people you can't help but have some feelings for. Perhaps mine are strong enough that I'm extremely jealous of whoever this guy is, and want to slap him for being so damn stupid to not take the opportunity to be with the most amazing person I've ever known.

"Whoever he is, he's lucky to have you falling for him. He really is an idiot to pass it up," I blushed, looking away from him.

"You mean that?" He asked, and I could tell his was staring directly at me. I wish I could hide my blush right now, ugh.

"I-I do. I know he means so much to you, but you deserve better."

"I don't deserve better, in fact he's actually too good for me. Dahvie?" I looked back to him, still trying to hide my pink face. It is dark but there's enough lights on to make it noticeable.

"Yes?"

"You really mean everything you said?" I nodded. "You're a great friend. If you were gay, I'd ask you to be more, but I'll be fine as long as you're still in my life."

Wait. WHAT?! Did he just... Does he mean that? What if I tell him that'd be completely  fine with me?

"Wait, what do you mean by that?" I looked up to him with wide eyes. I'd be more please mean that, please, please, please!

He seemed to realize what he said, "Nothing, nothing," he shook his head.

Whatever. It's now or never. With all the courage I had, I leaned forward on the top of my toes and kissed him. I could tell he was shocked, but he kissed back almost immediately. I wrapped my arms around his neck staying like this long after we pulled apart.

"So," I began. "What did you really mean by that now?"

He grinned, "well... Do you want to know who that guy I was talking about is?"

To be honest, not really. I'm just going to hate him forever for stealing Jayy's heart, but I guess I'll let him tell me anyways. "Who?"

He leaned forward until our foreheads were resting on each other. "You," he whispered before placing his lips on mine.

~

He asked me to be his. The whole night we spent it together; talking, laughing, kissing, until we both passed out on my bed around six in the morning. But before we fell asleep, he wrapped his arms around me, pulling me close right against his warm body. He kissed the back of my head, before whispering in my ear.

"Happy Birthday, Dahvie."
